How We Rank Robotic Mowers

This page explains how AI Mower News decides which robotic mowers to recommend, what we do and do not do, and how to hold us to it.

What our rankings are

Our category picks (Best Overall, Best Wire-Free, Best Budget, and so on) are editorial judgments, not lab scores. We rank by category rather than by star rating because the right mower depends on your lawn, not on an abstract number.

What goes into a pick

  • Manufacturer documentation — published specifications, manuals and firmware notes. If a spec is not in the maker’s own material, we do not print it as fact.
  • Independent hands-on reviews — coverage from outlets that physically tested the machine, cited by name and link.
  • Owner reports — long-term reliability signals from owner communities, dealer feedback and the questions readers bring to our support assistant.
  • Our own use — where a member of our team has operated a mower, we say so in the article. Where we have not, we do not claim to have tested it.

What we never do

  • Accept payment, free units with publication conditions, or dealer placement in exchange for a ranking.
  • Rank a product we cannot verify is shipping. Announced-but-unavailable machines are labelled as such.
  • Publish specifications, test results or quotes that we cannot trace to a source.

AI-assisted reporting

Much of our daily news is drafted by our AI-assisted desk, published under the “AI Mow” byline. Every draft passes an automated fact gate that blocks claims of testing we did not do and numbers that do not appear in the original source, and must meet our Editorial Guidelines before it goes live.

Updates and corrections

Ranking pages carry a “last updated” date. When a pick is superseded, we change it and note why. If we get something wrong, we correct the article and say what changed. Report an error via our contact page.

Independence

AI Mower News is self-funded and editorially independent. Our monetization is disclosed on the Transparency & Monetization page. Ads and directory listings never influence rankings.
