The Evidence Behind Our Scores

Our Accountability Standard is only credible if the evidence is visible. This page documents the sources, screenshots, and documentation that inform our Reliability Tracker ratings.

🔧 Repairability Evidence

How we determine whether a brand is User-Serviceable, Dealer Recommended, or Manufacturer-Only.

Parts Availability

Husqvarna — User-Serviceable

Official parts catalog publicly available on husqvarna.com. Blade kits, wheel motors, batteries, and charging contacts sold directly to consumers. PartSelect and Amazon carry OEM and aftermarket parts. Repair guides published in owner manuals and YouTube.
Parts Availability

Worx — User-Serviceable

Modular ACS accessory system designed for consumer replacement. Blades, batteries, and modules available on worx.com and major retailers. Community repair guides on YouTube with 50k+ views.
Forum Analysis

Mammotion — Dealer Recommended

Reddit r/mammotion reports indicate blade disc replacement is DIY-friendly, but mainboard and RTK antenna issues require manufacturer RMA. No published repair guides. Parts not sold separately as of March 2026.

👨‍💻 Developer Access Evidence

How we verify API availability and third-party integration support.

API Documentation

Husqvarna — Open API

Husqvarna Authentication API and Automower Connect API publicly documented at developer.husqvarna.com. OAuth2 authentication. Home Assistant integration official. Active developer community.
API Documentation

Worx — Open API

Worx Landroid API documented through pyWorxCloud Python library. MQTT-based real-time communication. Home Assistant community integration with 1000+ users. Local network access supported.
API Status

Mammotion — Closed

No public API documentation found. App communication uses proprietary protocol. No official Home Assistant support. Community reverse-engineering efforts in early stages (mammotion-ble GitHub).

☁️ Cloud Dependency Evidence

How we test whether mowers function without internet connectivity.

Manufacturer Statement

Kress — Local-First

Kress RTKn technology operates using local RTK base station. Mowing schedules stored on-device. Mobile app required only for initial setup. Confirmed by Kress product documentation and dealer demonstrations.
Owner Reports

Ecovacs GOAT — Cloud-Heavy

Multiple Reddit reports (r/ecovacs) confirm GOAT G1 requires active cloud connection for scheduling changes and zone management. Mower enters standby mode during cloud outages.
Owner Reports

Husqvarna — Hybrid

Automower continues scheduled mowing without internet (schedule stored locally). However, remote start, GPS tracking, and app notifications require Automower Connect cloud service.

📦 Data Portability Evidence

A field where the entire industry falls short.

Industry Finding

ALL BRANDS — No Full Export

As of March 2026, zero brands in our 50-brand database offer full export of yard maps, obstacle data, and mowing history. Some brands (Husqvarna, Worx) allow partial export of schedules and settings, but property mapping data remains locked in manufacturer ecosystems.
Impact Assessment

Switching Cost Estimate

Owner reports estimate 4-8 hours to re-map a property when switching brands — including boundary wire reinstallation (wire-based) or RTK zone remapping (wire-free). This effectively creates vendor lock-in through data hostage.

How to Submit Evidence

We welcome additional evidence from owners, technicians, and manufacturers. Every piece of evidence strengthens our database and improves the accuracy of our ratings.

  • Screenshots of app features, offline behavior, or error messages
  • Documentation — repair guides, API docs, parts catalogs
  • Repair photos showing internal components, connectors, and modularity
  • Cloud outage reports — what happened to your mower during a server outage?
