Husqvarna has become Official Turf Technology Partner of Golf Ireland, and has started a three-year apprenticeship to train technicians for robotic and battery-powered equipment. The multi-year partnership was reported by the trade publication Turf Matters on September 21, 2026.
The Partnership
According to Turf Matters, the deal gives Husqvarna category exclusivity across autonomous mowing, robotic ball collection and professional turf technology. The partnership is described as a tool to support greenkeeping teams, not to replace them.
Equipment for the Golf Ireland Academy
Husqvarna will supply a RELOX Ball Picker, a CEORA and an Automower for use at the Golf Ireland Academy.
The Robotics and Battery Apprenticeship Programme
The programme is a structured three-year pathway for technicians in Husqvarna’s Irish dealer network. Ireland hosts the first pilot of its kind across the Husqvarna global network. Husqvarna calls the programme a global industry first.
The training is split three ways: 60% dealer-based workplace learning, 25% digital learning through Husqvarna University and 15% instructor-led technical and academy training. Apprentices will learn mechanical and electrical systems, battery technology, robotic mower installation and servicing, GPS and EPOS technology, connected products, software, fault tracing and customer support.
The first group is nine apprentices from eight businesses across Ireland.
What the Two Organisations Said
Richard Wynne, National Sales and Business Development Manager for Husqvarna Ireland, said the commitment is “about much more than supplying equipment.” He added that the industry needs skilled people who can install, maintain and diagnose the technology.
Mark Kennelly, Chief Executive Officer of Golf Ireland, said he hoped the partnership would deliver practical benefits for greenkeepers and course managers across the country.
Turf Matters also reports that Husqvarna held a Turf & Tech Conference at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis during the 2026 Amgen Irish Open.
Why It Matters
This announcement is about the people who install and repair robotic mowers, not only the machines. Husqvarna is training dealer technicians specifically in robotic mower installation and servicing, GPS and EPOS technology and fault tracing. Husqvarna says Ireland is the first market in its network to run this pilot.
